Tunnel Users Benefit from City Airport Boost

Recent figures published show that delays at London City Airport were significantly lower than the average reported for 10 major UK airports in the first three months of 2009. The average delay at London City Airport was less than 9 minutes (compared to the 10 UK airport average of nearly 12 minutes), with nearly 85% of flights being delayed by less than 15 minutes (compared to the 10 UK airport average of only 81%). These figures represent a major improvement compared to the equivalent period in 2008.

An occasional user of City Airport and regular user of the Blackwall Tunnel told us "In addition to the easy access, swift check-in, and short walk from check-in desk to the planes at London City Airport, these figures are testimony to the fantastic efforts of all airline and airport employees. I think the airport is critical to the future prosperity of the City and has a huge role to play in attracting businesses and investors. The high level of performance with respect to delays at City Airport compared to other London Airports is a boost for the thousands of business and leisure travellers who use the airport on a regular basis. I only wish queuing periods in the morning and evening rush hours at the Blackwall Tunnel were as reliable!"
